More Than 225,000 Kidde Smoke Detectors & Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors Are Recalled

More than a quarter-million Kidde TruSense Smoke Alarms and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms are being recalled voluntarily by Kidde. On May 6^th, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission posted a notice that these systems may experience a delay in direction or fail to detect smoke altogether, which could result in an alarm’s inability to alert consumers to a fire.

Units involved in this recall include:

Kidde Model Series 2040
Kidde Model Series 2050
Kidde Model Series 2060
Kidde Model Series 2070

*Note: Only units that contain the TruSense logo or have “AMBER=FAULT” printed on the front of the alarm are subject to the recall. Model numbers are printed on the back of the alarm.

These smoke and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms were sold between May 2019 and September 2020 at Walmart, Home Depot, and other home and hardware stores as well as online through Amazon and other retailers.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has said that as of yet, no incidents have been reported, but is recommending that anyone with a unit involved in the recall replace the unit as soon as possible. You can continue to use your alarm until the replacement alarm is installed.
